Peter Chua (author of “Ating Kalagayan”)

Ang Ating Kalagayan presents the often invisible social conditions of Filipinos in the United States and their need to build an equitable future in a multiracial country and rapidly changing world. This book brings together the most comprehensive demographic data available on U.S. Filipinos, unique information on economic classes and social groups, and analysis ranging from ordinary folks to academic researchers, to members of grassroots organizations. Peter will be presenting on data specifically related to the densely Filipino populated area of Daly City/Northern San Mateo County.

Ang Ating Kalagayan is published in conjunction with the National Bulosan Center and the National Alliance for Filipino Concerns (NAFCON) an alliance of U.S. organizations and individuals working to protect and advance the rights and welfare of Filipinos, promote Filipino heritage, and pursue the call for international justice.

Peter Chua is an associate professor of sociology at San Jose State University.

This event is co-sponsored by the Kalayaan School for Equity, Liwanag Kultural Center and the Daly City United Methodist Church.
